Windblown Dust Guidance

Here are the Antelope Valley Dustbusters guides for controlling windblown sand and dust. The information in these Guides applies to high elevation desert regions of Southern California. It is based on approximately 20 years of research conducted by the Dustbusters Research Group in the Antelope Valley of Northern Los Angeles County.

Homeowners, Growers, & Large area land managers in the high elevation Mojave Desert and other Southwestern U.S. locations encounter extended droughts, high winds, soil erosion, and other circumstances that result in blowing dust. Any process that results in minimal soil cover also invites dust problems. Wind speeds in this area can exceed 50 mph. When the wind blows, dust will follow.
