Outreach Specialist

Position Description:

This is a part time position. The Outreach Specialist is responsible for the promotion of the Dustbusters Program and other District programs, by consultation with stakeholders in public meetings forums, public outreach, and District hosted public events. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop outreach materials to promote the Dustbusters handbooks, programs, and services

  • Distribute outreach materials through various sources

  • Develop a thorough knowledge of the Dustbusters program and its purpose

  • Identify stakeholders and contact them through various avenues

  • Attend various community meetings and promote the Dustbusters program

  • Arrange community outreach events in different locations to promote the Dustbusters program and disseminate the handbook

  • Meet with key stakeholders to promote the program and handbook

  • Prepare reports to the Executive Director on progress

  • Seek additional funding to support District outreach program

  • Any additional duties that may be deemed essential to the success of the Dustbusters program as assigned by the Executive Director.

Organizational Leadership

Contribute to short and long-term outreach planning and strategy as a member of the District staff

Qualifications
  • Commitment to the District’s mission and scope of work

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Conservation or other (Preferred)

  • Desired background and work experience in conservation and agricultural practices

  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in excel, word, publishing software

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are essential

  • Excellent public speaking skills

  • High level of organization required

  • Experience with event planning helpful

  • Marketing skills as needed to promote District projects, programs and outreach

Mileage:

Reimbursed at current IRS rate

Must have a valid Driver’s License, a clean DMV record and proof of automobile insurance.  Must be willing to use own automobile to travel on program related business.
