2010 Call for Applications

Raymond H. Krueger Scholarship

The Raymond H. Krueger Scholarship was established by the Antelope Valley Resource Conservation District (AVRCD) in 2000. To apply for a Raymond H. Krueger Scholarship, mail your completed application, photocopy of current transcripts, and letters of recommendation to the AVRCD Scholarship Committee by April 30, 2010. Scholarship amounts will range from $500.00 to $2000.00 and are based on the number of entries and available funds. Winners will be announced by June 1, 2010.  Feel free to contact the District Office at 945-2604 ext. 107 if you have any questions.

 

Eligibility:   All Antelope Valley-area high school seniors or continuing college students pursuing a collegiate course of study in an agricultural or related field, national resource management, biology or botany, and a resident of the Antelope Valley, are eligible to apply.

 

Deadline:    Scholarship packages must be postmarked by April 30, 2010.

 

Raymond Krueger was a longtime farmer and conservationist who worked tirelessly for 49 years to preserve natural resources in the Antelope Valley. In addition to serving as President of the AVRCD, he was chairman of the California Association of Resource Conservation Districts and Southern California Coalition of Resource Conservation Districts. His awards and commendations include the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce Unsung Hero Award and Western Fairs Association Blue Ribbon Award, and a Commendation presented by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

 

Please read the following instructions before submitting your application package.

  1. Complete the application. Applications must be printed legibly or typed.

  2. Include a copy of your current high school transcripts (through the last semester completed).

  3. Include at least two current letters of recommendation.  (Suggested sources include: FFA advisor, ROP advisor, school counselor, club/activity advisor, ornamental horticulture instructor, recent employer, or religious leader.)

  4. Mail your completed application, current transcripts, and letters of recommendation no later than April 30, 2010, to: AVRCD Scholarship Committee, 44811 N. Date Ave., Suite G, Lancaster, CA 93534
